We’re Hiring: Junior Database Administrator (MS SQL / Hybrid) 📍 Location: Resafa, Baghdad | Full-time ttech is looking for an eager and motivated Junior Database Administrator to join our data infrastructure team. If you have a solid foundation in relational databases and T-SQL, understand how Always on Availability Groups work conceptually, and are excited to grow into Distributed Availability Groups, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, we’d love to hear from you. This is an entry-level to early-career opportunity, working alongside senior engineers on day-to-day database operations and high-availability systems. What You’ll Do - Monitor daily database alerts, server health, disk space, and job execution via SQL Server Agent - Assist with routine maintenance: automated backups, integrity checks (DBCC CHECKDB), index and statistics maintenance - Execute database restore requests and verify backups across Dev, QA, and Staging environments - Support deployment tickets, including running developer-provided DDL/DML scripts and schema migrations - Check synchronization states and replica health for Always On Availability Groups (AAG), and escalate failover/replication issues to senior engineers - Shadow senior DBAs on multi-site/cross-cluster setups involving Distributed Availability Groups (DAG) - Monitor blocking locks, long-running queries, and deadlocks using SSMS and basic DMVs - Review execution plans under senior guidance to spot missing indexes or inefficient scans - Document system configurations, SOPs, and runbooks - Get hands-on exposure to PostgreSQL (pg_dump, log checks, user access) and MongoDB (service status, collection/storage growth monitoring) What We’re Looking For - 0–1 year of experience in database administration, data support, or system administration (internships and relevant lab experience welcome) - Foundational understanding of SQL Server architecture (engines, storage, transaction logs, data types) Intermediate T-SQL skills (queries, joins, basic stored procedures, DDL/DML) - Conceptual understanding of HA vs. DR, including how AAG functions (listeners, primary/secondary replicas, sync vs. async) - Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) - A strong troubleshooting mindset, attention to detail, and genuine eagerness to learn from senior engineers Nice to Have - Basic PowerShell or Bash for task automation - Academic or hands-on exposure to PostgreSQL or MongoDB - Familiarity with Windows Server administration basics (services, event viewer, permissions) - CompTIA, Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900 / DP-900), or entry-level Microsoft database certifications 📩 Interested candidates can apply by sending their CV to [email protected]
