VARA seeks an experienced accountant to manage financial data, ensure compliance, prepare reports, and support financial planning across multiple branches in Erbil and Basra, Iraq.
Job Opportunity: Accountant Company: VARA Location: Erbil, Basra, Iraq Industry: Heavy Machinery, Trucks, and Agricultural Equipment Reporting To: Finance Manager Role Overview: VARA is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage and report the company’s financial data across head office and branch locations. This role ensures accurate accounting, compliance with regulations, and timely reporting, while providing valuable insights to support management in financial planning, cost control, and operational decision-making. Key Responsibilities: • Reconcile bank statements, cash accounts, and bookkeeping ledgers across all branches. • Analyze employee expenditures, manage income and expenditure accounts, and monitor branch-level financial activities. • Prepare and generate accurate financial statements, management reports, and monthly/quarterly financial analyses. • Ensure timely filing and remittance of taxes, social security contributions, and other regulatory obligations. • Implement, maintain, and manage accounting and financial management software. • Monitor compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and financial controls. • Track budgets, monitor operational expenses, and identify variances to support cost management. • Collaborate with branch accountants and finance teams to ensure uniform accounting practices. • Assist management in financial forecasting, planning, and strategy with actionable insights. • Support external audits by providing complete and accurate financial records and documentation. • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting. Requirements & Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • 3–4 years of professional accounting experience; multi-branch or industrial experience preferred. • Proficient with accounting software (ERP systems) and financial management tools. • Advanced spreadsheet skills and experience in financial data analysis. • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting rules, and procedures. • High analytical ability, attention to detail, and accuracy in work. • Ability to work independently and collaborate with finance teams across multiple locations. • Strong communication and reporting skills to convey financial insights to management.
