Job Title : Translator - Job Location : Iraq, Sulaimaniyah - KC-interlaw (Full time) Organization: Kurdistan Center for International Law No. of Position: 3 Vacancy closing date: April 1st, 2022 Job starting date: May 1st, 2022 About KCIL Kurdistan Center for International Law (KCIL) is an academic Kurdish-German, non-governmental, non-partisan, non-profit, and independent center with a primary focus on research and analysis of international law pertaining to Kurdistan’s communities. KCIL combines advocacy with legal analysis to protect, promote and fulfill the fundamental principles of International Human Rights law, International Humanitarian Law, and International Criminal Law in Kurdistan. For more please visit; www.kc-interlaw.org About the Project The emergence of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) denoted the untold suffering of Iraqis. The crimes committed during the war ranged from genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. At present, there is no apparatus which can hold individuals to account for these heinous crimes. The ISIS fighters, and other perpetrators of the crimes have not been prosecuted for responsibility of the core international crimes. The project will have a significant focus on the raising level of awareness about International criminal law, institutional capacity to make contribution towards incorporating international criminal law into domestic laws and practices, and legislative reform. This project by involving key actors from the judicial and legislative authorities and by training judges, prosecutors, academics and representatives of the victims of core international crimes aims to build a foundation towards international criminal justice in KRI.Key Responsibilities Translating specific and relevant documents related to international criminal law and international humanitarian law into Kurdish language (Sorani), translating texts from Kurdish language to English language, and interpretation if needed. Qualification & Preferred skills: - University degree, preferably in English language, Translation or relevant professions. - Minimum 3 years of experience in translation English to Kurdish, and Kurdish to English. - Demonstrate strong knowledge of quality in Kurdish language. - Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail. - Fluency in spoken and written English and Kurdish is required, Arabic is an extra asset.
