A UN agency is seeking a National Biodiversity and Protected Areas Specialist for a 6-month contract. The role involves coordinating biodiversity projects, facilitating workshops, and managing stakeholder relations. A PhD in environmental science and 10+ years of experience are required.
Job Announcement: - Position: National Biodiversity and Protected Areas Specialist ( 1 position) Period and Duration of the assignment/Services: 6 Months ( 90 days) Start Date: 1 July 2022 end date : 31 Dec 2022 Location: Iraq Academic Qualifications: PhD in Environmental science, General biology, or relevant fields. Years of Experience: o At least 10 years of experience in the biodiversity field o Experience in coordination and consultation with national and local stakeholders on biodiversity o Experience in facilitation of workshops and consultations o Experience in drafting biodiversity guides on IBAs KBAs o Experience in working with UN agencies o Proven record of academic publications in Biodiversity field o Experience in organizing field surveys and trips Functional competencies: o Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude. o Identifies priorities, allocates time, and resources, foresees risks and allows for contingencies. o Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines. o Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. o Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities. o Self-reliant and able to work as a part of a multi-cultural team in a stressful. Corporate Competencies : Demonstrates commitment to the UN’s values and ethical standards. Promotes the mission, vision and strategic goals of UNDP.
