Employment Opportunity: English Teachers (Halabja) Position Summary: Amideast/Iraq is looking to recruit qualified local English language instructors in the Halabja area for an exciting English language project for high school students we will be launching in 2024. Teachers selected for this position should be available during the academic school year 3-4 times per week to teach two-hour classes and 5-6 times per week during the summer for two-hour classes. Responsibilities: • Provide quality English language instruction for all assigned courses, tailored to individual student needs; • Prepare relevant lesson plans based on curriculum goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes; • Plan and share supplemental materials needed to enhance the courses; • Follow the designated instructional plan and schedule for the course; • Complete and submit students’ attendance and course logs; • Provide feedback to supervisors when necessary; • Provide feedback on student homework, exams, projects and other assignments in a timely fashion; • Conduct student and parent conferences when necessary; • Assist in English language program planning, review, and development; • Assist in creating assessment instruments and curriculum development; • Participate in weekly department meetings and professional development sessions, based on prior notice; • Correspond with students outside of class as needed; • Attend initial and on-going teacher training; • Chaperone students quarterly for day-long extracurricular activities mostly outside Halabja city, for a total of six activities over the course of two years; • Design and implement language lesson plans to prepare students for the themes/topics of the extracurricular activities; • Collect parent-consent forms from students who will be participating in extracurricular activities; • Inform main office of number of confirmed students for each extracurricular activity one week in advance; • Attend and participate in program related gatherings of students and parents such as program launch and graduation ceremonies; • Collaborate on any other program related tasks as assigned. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree holder • Minimum of 1-2 years of English language teaching experience • Advanced English language proficiency • Demonstrated professionalism • Willingness to work as part of a team • Availability for teaching hours in afternoon and/or on weekends • Resident of Halabja area Preferred Qualifications: • M.A. in TESOL, applied linguistics, or a closely related field or TESOL certificate (equivalent to CELTA) #All_Kurdistan_Jobs
