A Phlebotomy Technician is required to perform specimen collection, processing, and handling in a laboratory setting. Responsibilities include welcoming patients, labeling and processing specimens, ensuring quality control, and maintaining safety protocols. The role requires adherence to established lab policies and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Job Title: Phlebotomy Technician Reports to: PS Supervisor Location: 60 Meter Road, Mamostayan Qr., Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq Position Overview: Performs a variety of phlebotomy procedures in assigned sections including specimen receiving, processing and handling. Responsibilities, Duties, and Accountabilities: ● Welcoming patients to the Phlebotomy area. ● Perform specimen collection, labelling and processing. ● Prepares specimens to be stored or transported to the reference laboratory ● Performs laboratory determinations on blood, body fluids and other specimens as assigned. ● Performs other procedures / analysis in the assigned section / sections as per established policies. ● Determine and approve the correct specimen requirements, criteria of acceptability or rejection. ● Performs and review quality controls, quality assurance requirements and established guidelines as per Lab, Department or/and section ● Observes safety policies, universal precautions and hazardous material management and waste policies. ● Communicates all relevant information, specimen requirements and patient results to senior staff, lab directors as appropriate. ● Understands / implements MDC Lab established policies related to safety, dress code, cleanliness, infection control, waste management and exposure control plan as per MDC Lab PP Manuals. ● Maintain the highest level of integrity, professionalism and patient confidentiality. ● Learns, understands and ensures implementation and observance with all existing / new policies related to CAP and in compliance with local MOH regulations. ● Maintain and control a log of supplies used in the phlebotomy area. ● Participate in continuous education program as per established PS programs ● Perform other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department. Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes: - Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or related area. - Experience: Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by MDC HR guidelines - Language: Fluency in written and oral Kurdish and Arabic, good English is an advantage - Working Hours: 36 hours per week - Unique requirements of the job: ● Basic knowledge of principles, methods, materials, equipment and techniques of medical technology ● Knowledge of lab procedures, safety rules and conditions & SOP’s ● Ability to effective communication with all related departments and sections ● Ability to work as a team player ● Problem solving and Decision making skills ● Male Candidate (Preferable). ● Flexibility - Over Time, Shift Changes & Schedule Changes. - How to apply: Email us your CV through: [email protected] Subject: Candidate full name and position is Phlebotomy Technician Example: Sara Hassan - Phlebotomy Technician #All_Kurdistan_Jobs
