Chemonics International Security Associate Erbil Job Overview Background: The Area Specialist will support ICRI Ta’afi programming, research, and context analysis in Mosul and the Ninewa Plain. The consultant will support the team to better understand the social, political, security, and economic dynamics that impact ICRI Ta’afi programming in Mosul and the Ninewa Plain, with a specific focus on West Mosul. The consultant will help the Ta’afi team understand the challenges and opportunities facing communities in Mosul and the Ninewa Plain and will analyze the factors influencing returns and connections to target communities. The consultant will assist the team in identifying new ideas and approaches, and possible challenges, with the existing and possible future activities. Reporting and Work Location: S/he will report to the Security Manager. This position is based in Erbil, Iraq. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Supports the Security Manager to collect information on the security situation in geographic areas where the project operates, and staff travels. 2. Supports the Security Manager in all day-to-day security risk management related tasks in a timely and accurate manner. 3. Collects data to support facilities (offices and residences) and operational threat and risk assessments for the project in Iraq. 4. Tracks international travelers’ arrivals and departures and serves as a point of contact for travelers. 5. Monitors security communications when staff are in the field. 6. Prepares travel bags prior to trips and conducts pre-trip briefings for staff. 7. Conducts physical and mobile security assessments with close oversight from supervisor. 8. Schedules and conducts regular checks for security communication equipment and trackers, the field staff tracker, and the tracking platform. 9. Schedules and conducts all office safety and security equipment checks. Serves as point of contact with office and residence building security management for operational and administrative issues. 10. Develops and maintains relationships with law enforcement, JCCC, and other officials in order to enable project operations and activities within the areas of operation. 11. Assists with the maintenance and distribution of the phone tree, emergency cascade plan, staff contact lists, and international travel tracker. 12. Maintains master list for and distributes office ID cards for staff. Also acts as the custodian for the office’s physical security system. 13. With the guidance of the security team, maintains and updates the Safety and Security Plan (SSP) and corresponding business continuity documents, providing limited technical input to the Security Manager. 14. Provides logistic support to security team for trainings, meetings, and conferences. Qualifications: The candidate should have ideally completed a bachelor’s degree or possess a minimum of three years of relevant working experience in an administrative field. Solid IT skills especially with Microsoft Office and Excel are mandatory. Experience with databases and mapping software are a clear advantage. Experience in operational security, risk management, or health and safety are an advantage but not mandatory as this is an entry level position. Training on the job will be provided.
