IRAQI NATIONALS ONLY Position: Instrument & Control System Calibration Lab Supervisor Company: Darjah Location: Karbala, Karabala Refinery Working days: Rotation (20/10) Salary Range: 2,800,000 IQD - 3,500,000 IQD Summary The Calibration Lab Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all technical and managerial aspects of the Instrument Calibration Laboratory. This role ensures that all plant instruments (Pressure, Temperature, Flow, Level, Analyzers) are calibrated, certified, and maintained to the highest standards of accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance (specifically ISO/IEC 17025). This position demands advanced metrology knowledge, strong leadership, and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Key Responsibilities and Duties Supervision & Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of calibration technicians, optimizing daily workload scheduling and resource allocation to meet plant shutdown and maintenance demands. - Quality System Management: Act as the Subject Matter Expert for the lab's quality management system, specifically enforcing compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards regarding technical records, procedures, and personnel competency. - Metrology & Uncertainty: Oversee the calculation and reporting of Measurement Uncertainty (MU) for all lab and field calibrations, ensuring the lab’s Best Measurement Capability (BMC) is suitable for all process requirements. - Standard Control: Manage the inventory, maintenance, and external re-calibration of all primary and secondary reference standards, ensuring all standards maintain traceability to national (e.g., NIST) or international metrology institutions. - Procedure Development: Author, validate, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and calibration work instructions for all instruments, systems, and test equipment. - Out-of-Tolerance (OOT) Management: Implement and manage the Out-of-Tolerance protocol, performing impact assessments and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for all critical instrument failures. - Auditing & Compliance: Lead the preparation for internal and external quality audits, providing technical data and demonstrating procedural compliance. - Advanced Support: Provide high-level technical expertise for complex field instrumentation issues and collaborate with Instrumentation Engineers on advanced diagnostics and system upgrades (DCS/PLC interface). Qualifications and Requirements - Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metrology, or a related technical discipline. - Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in instrumentation maintenance and calibration, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior leadership role within a certified industrial laboratory (Refinery, Petrochemical, or Power Plant). Professional Certifications: - Mandatory: Proven experience and formal training in ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and Quality Management Systems. - Highly Desirable: Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or Certified Metrology Professional (CMP). Specialized Technical Skills: - In-depth expertise in the calibration principles of all critical process variables (Pressure, Temperature, Flow, Level). - Advanced knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty Analysis (GUM) principles. - Proficiency in utilizing and managing calibration management software (CMMS/CMS). - Expert ability to interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and advanced control schematics. - Leadership Skills: Strong decision-making ability, excellent technical communication (verbal and written), and proven ability to train, mentor, and motivate a technical team.
