Job Title: Pumping and Reservoir Engineer (2 positions) Job Summary Smithson is looking for a qualified Pumping and Reservoir Engineer, to work with our team in Nainawa. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and skills in mechanical/electrical/control/ water resources engineering. Work duration will be based on mission. Below is a summary of the responsibilities and qualifications. Responsibilities • experience in Installing and repairing pumps and other equipment, including replacing motors, seals, bearings, and other parts as needed; • experience in Inspecting pumps to determine any issues with wear and tear or damage, using tools such as ultrasonic testing equipment and bubble levels; • maintaining records of maintenance activities and repair work performed on pumps; • display how to Perform tests on new pumps to ensure they are operating correctly before they are installed into the system; • display methods of Troubleshooting problems with pumps or other equipment to determine the cause of malfunctions; • display methods of Repairing or replacing seals, bearings, couplings, or other components on pumps; • perform activities such as Installing, maintaining, repairing and replacing pumps, valves, and other equipment for water treatment plants, power plants, oil refineries, chemical plants, and other industrial facilities; • show how to do Maintenance, Repairing or replacing broken pipes, valves, fittings, or other components of a system; • displaying operating and maintaining pumps in order to deliver fluids such as water, sewage, or oil, to a desired location. Requirements • proven expertise as a trainer in the mentioned field; • holding a minimum BSc degree in engineering, technical or science with an exception for technical institute diploma holders with at least 15 years of practical experience; • written and oral proficiency in Arabic, English is a plus; • relevant mechanical certification; • previous work experience as a pump mechanic; • advanced knowledge of pump systems and mechanical connections; • ability to read and interpret blueprints; • ability to troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions; • physically fit and able to lift heavy objects; • ability to work independently.
