An international NGO in Sulaymaniyah is seeking a Counseling Psychologist to provide mental health and psychosocial support to local communities, refugees, and IDPs. The candidate should have a bachelor's degree or higher in sociology and 3-5 years of experience in counseling/trauma healing.

We major in Humanitarian activities (Refugee intervention), Education, Health, and Human Development. We are looking for highly motivated candidates to perform the positions mentioned above. The candidate is to provide support to the organization while maintaining a sense of professionalism. Counseling Psychologist Requirements: The person is to offer Mental Health and Psychosocial support (MHPSS) to local communities, Refugee and IDPs in the camps in Sulaymaniyah district. Ø Education: Bachelors or higher degree in sociology. Ø Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in counseling/trauma healing situations. Ø Extremely detail-oriented and with perfect follow-up skills. Ø The ability to use standard software packages (Microsoft office and others) Ø Conduct psychosocial assessments, including assessment of mental health needs and suicide risk assessment Ø Develop training material and provide training and capacity building to partners on child and adolescent psychosocial care, MHPSS awareness. Ø Ability to organize tasks, research and keeping records. Ø Ability to travel within KRG. Ø Language skills: Kurdish, (Arabic and English is a must) Ø Highly dependable and trustworthy: maintain confidentiality with access to extremely sensitive documents. Ø Ability to counsel work with trauma, ADHD, and other related mental health cases. Ø Good communication service and relationship-building skills (Team working skills, Organization and time management skills, Flexibility) Ø The ability to be proactive and use your initiative: to see what needs to be done and to do it Ø Support the maintenance of MHPPS database and provide analysis of the data to the Technical Coordinator upon request Ø Build external relations on the areas of MHPSS with government and non-government stakeholders in coordination with the N2N. Ø Ensure adherence to Organization’s standards and quality requirements in all the MHPSS responses.
